Often associated with bishops, early reliquary crosses sometimes contained relics such as saintly bone fragments and/or textile remnants. This example measures about 4.5" long. It, and many lots forthcoming, is from the monumental, central Florida estate of a true art and antique collector in every sense of the word. This antiquarian truly enjoyed the treasures he collected, while engaged in humanitarian, and missionary work around the world.
