Omar Khayyam was famous in his own day as a mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher. to much of the world today known as a poet. and his Rubaiyat as the Chief exemplar of the Arabic verse form "roba’i" a poem composed in quartrains in which the first, second and fourth lines rhyme. Fine leather binding with gold embossed/ engraved title/ design on sine edge and front board, beautiful numerous color plates and black/ white engraving on pages as seen in image, gilt gold top leaf edges, measures 6 1/2" x 9" x 1".
