Book "The American Indian" by Elijah M. Haines, published by Massinnagan Company of Chicago in 1888. This volume is a massive 821 page tome which is available in digital form, is the only original copy. It covers a vast number of topics including origin, tradition, linguistics, tribes, totems, manners and customs, and many other facets of American Indian life. It is extensively illustrated. Its a large heavy book with brown simulated leather cover and black leather spine. There are a couple of very minor missing spots of brown missing where it contact the black leather edges.
