An original signed mezzotint engraving by English artist Sydney E. Wilson (1869-?) titled "Mrs. Lee Acton", 1919 after a painting by English artist George Romney (1734-1802). Hand pencil signed lower right. Limited edition: 425. In no other state, the plate was destroyed. Printed at the top center margin: ‘Copyright Published September 21st, 1919 by Vicars Brothers, 12 Old Bond St. London.’ Fine Art Trade Guild blindstamp/ chop mark lower left. Sheet size: 30" x 21.5". Image size: 20" x 12.5". This large engraving is laid down on the thin board. General toning and wear associated with age to outer margin of sheet. The image/plate itself is in very good condition. In overall good condition. (Please see pictures).Sydney E. Wilson (1869-?) was a British engraver working in London in the late 19th century, known for his accurate engravings based on oils by Morland, Gainsborough, and other celebrated British painters of the 18th and 19th century.
